Are you the type of person who likes looking down rather than up? Travel Begins at 40 has teamed up with The Rooftop Guide to give you six of the best hotel rooftop bars – personally I still love the Sofitel Plaza in Hanoi – from around the world.

Rikard Fredricson and Hans Ebenman founded The Rooftop Guide in 2015, in order to create a full guide to sky-high lifestyle at your fingertips. They have personally visited some 500-600 of the venues – commitment to the cause. It contains more than 1,200 rooftop bars, rooftop pools and rooftop yoga places in over 110 cities and destinations.

Their six top hotel rooftop bars:

Sky Bar at Grand Hotel Central – Barcelona
Probably the coolest and best rooftop infinity pool in Europe. Add spectacular city views over Barcelona and nice and comfortable lounge seats to the mix, and really there is no reason to leave. The pool is only available for hotel guests, but outside visitors can enjoy drinks on the terrace from 8pm each night.

Marina Bay Sands – Singapore
One of the most famous rooftops in the world. The terrace at Marina Bay Sands (see cover photo) has it all. A large rooftop infinity pool, fancy restaurants, great bars, good service and a 360-degree view to die for. Add some private rooftop Jacuzzis to this, and you know that you’ll be in for a real treat here.

CRU Champagne Bar at Centara Grand – Bangkok
If you like a grand 360-degree view in a luxurious and party friendly atmosphere, CRU Champagne bar is the place to be in Bangkok. The food and cocktails up here are top notch. During the early evening the vibe is little bit more relaxed but later on this place turns into a superb party venue.

The Press Lounge at Ink48 Hotel – New York
