Where to Go in May – Further Afield

Niagara Falls Tourism
c. Niagara Falls Tourism

Spring is the best time to see this vast and beautiful country as the snow has melted and nights grow shorter. Watch Canada emerge from its long winter slumber. Get here before the tourists and mossies come out. Explore the wilderness, visit multicultural Vancouver, or just take a trip to Niagara Falls. There is so much to experience in the second largest country in the world. Current entry requirements can be found here.

Alternatively, if you really want to venture further afield, consider Madagascar. In May the rainy season should be complete, so this offers you the perfect time to see the unique wildlife on offer in this amazing country. Described as a biodiversity hotspot and the eighth continent, 90% of the island’s flora and fauna is endemic, with 80% of its plant life found nowhere else in the world. Quite literally there is no place on earth like Madagascar. Current entry requirements can be found here.

The end of the month sees the return of The Chelsea Flower Show in London. The world’s most famous horticultural show dates back to 1862 although it has been held in its current location since 1913. While in the capital you can always combine your visit to a trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to see its wonderful Bamboo House.

Alresford, Hampshire

Alternatively you could head to a tiny village in Hampshire for the Alresford Watercress Festival. One of our most favourite quirky festivals in the UK, here you can see the wide range of products people can create from watercress as well as the World Watercress Eating Competition.
