Could You Handle Going Inside One of the Great Pyramids?

Culture & History

Egypt is considered among the top bucket list destinations. The pyramids are among the most fascinating marvels on Earth, and they have to be seen to be believed.

For some travellers, simply looking at them from the outside is not enough. They want to venture inside and feel like they’re on a quest for lost secrets. This is not for the fainthearted, though, and you need to think carefully before you decide to do it yourself.

An Ancient Egyptian Tour is on Many People’s Bucket Lists

Ancient Egypt is one of the most documented periods in history, and there are so many ways to learn about it. It’s a common theme in the entertainment industry, and many people first encounter it through films, television, and games before going on to explore it in other ways. The iGaming market is one area of entertainment where the theme is particularly popular, and there are various jackpot games that use an ancient Egyptian theme. These include Scarab Rising Megaways and Eye of Horus: Legacy of Gold.

There are also various films and television series that have helped promote ancient Egyptian themes to a wider audience, with The Mummy franchise being the best-known example. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is the most recent addition to this series, and there are reports that there could be another title with Brendan Fraser back in the starring role in the next few years.

These titles immerse players in an ancient Egyptian setting, with various symbols and imagery based on the civilisation that thrived thousands of years ago.

Because of this widespread interest in Ancient Egypt, many people want to go to the country and experience some of the history firsthand. Seeing the pyramids from the outside is part of this, but delving inside them enhances the immersion in that old and prestigious culture even more.

Going Inside a Pyramid Is Not for the Fainthearted

If a trip to the pyramids is on your bucket list, you may be considering whether to go all the way and book a ticket inside one of them as well. Visitors are allowed to tour the interior of the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza, along with a couple of others, but it requires a separate ticket and there is a limited number of these available each day. Therefore, planning your trip in advance is essential.

There are also a few things you need to know about venturing into the heart of these great stone structures. The narrow passageways are steep and confined, and they’re not recommended for people who may suffer from claustrophobia. On top of that, there’s limited airflow and it can get extremely hot. However, for some people, the discomfort is worth it for the experience, as there’s the chance to travel deep inside and visit the King’s Chamber.

Going inside the Great Pyramids is undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it’s something that you need to put careful consideration into before you do it. It’s a rather uncomfortable adventure, but one that many visitors find rewarding.
