Yeak Laom lake is located close to Banlung town in Ratanakiri province.

The perfectly circular lake spans 800 metres and reaches depths of 48 metres. It was created centuries ago during a volcano and today is a great place to spend a day swimming and relaxing in one of the huts around the perimeter. The further you go from the entrance the more peaceful it gets.

Locals tell a story of a demon that resides in the lake. Serving as a place of worship for local hill tribes, the lake and surrounding forest are believed to be inhabited by a powerful spirit.
