Now in its 5th year, Bishop Auckland Christmas Town has become a much-loved tradition, transforming the historic town centre and marketplace into the “Christmas Capital of the North.” Visitors can enjoy a multi-day festive extravaganza that combines outdoor entertainment, family-friendly fun and a magical Christmas atmosphere. The event remains free to enter, with ticketed attractions offering unlimited access to premium experiences.
Bishop Auckland, located at the Market Place, comes alive with more than 35 festive market stalls, street food vendors serving everything from churros to mulled wine and a host of seasonal attractions. Families can enjoy a traditional Santa’s Grotto, breakfasts with Santa, ‘Baby meets Santa’ sessions, and quiet inclusive sessions for SEND children and families, delivered in partnership with local charity LittleSENDsations.
