Erlangen’s Bergkirchweih is one of Franconia’s classic beer events, centred on the city’s historic beer cellars and outdoor seating under trees. This year it marks its 271st year.
Running from 21 May–1 June 2026, the ‘Berg’ is as much about the beer-garden atmosphere as it is about the fairground rides and traditional rituals. Expect a strong local feel, with music, breweries and cellar gardens stretching along the Burgberg. With nearly two weeks of celebrations, it’s a brilliant choice if you want a renowned German beer festival that’s big on tradition, but smaller and more local in tone than the mega-events in Munich or Stuttgart.
