Faroe Islands Seafood Festival 2019
The Faroe Islands Seafood Festival returns to Tórshavn on May 4. Over 8,000 people attended the event in its third year in 2017. A vast array of different seafood is served, such as lobster, mackerel, shrimp and porbeagle, to name only a few. The best bit? It’s all free of charge.
People have the opportunity to choose their own seafood and grill their own food, or try the splendid fish soup, prepared and served by seafood chef Birgir Enni, owner of the schooner boat Norðlýsið.
Music plays an integral part at the family-orientated event, with various Faroese artists performing throughout the day. There is also entertainment for children. Sjósavnið (the sea museum) is on hand to display various fish types, and children have the chance to touch and experience these fish up close.
The event concludes with a concert in the evening, wrapping up what is a fantastic occasion located in the heart of Tórshavn.

There are opportunities to step aboard and experience Norðlýsið, an old Faroese schooner boat, which is mainly used for sightseeing trips.
The event, called “Ein dagur á grynnuni” in Farose, is held annually on the first Saturday of May, and is free of charge. There are opportunities to buy refreshments (beer, wine, coffee, tea, and soda). Most of the area is covered by tents, and tables and high tables are located in the area.
