Lendy Cowes Week, Isle of Wight
August 4 - August 11
August 4 – 11: Since 1826, Lendy Cowes Week has been an essential entry in the English summer calendar, alongside Wimbledon and the Henley Regatta. Of its type, the largest sailing regatta in the world and one of Britain’s longest running sporting events, each day as many as 800 boats, with yachtsman ranging from Olympians to the weekend sailor, will compete in 40 races throughout Cowes week.
More than 100,000 spectators are expected to descend upon the small town of Cowes on the north of the Isle of Wight for the festival, and you can be assured that the party will carry well on into the night with live music, DJs and an excess of Pimms flowing, in that unique Cowes ambience.
Cowes Week is one of this year’s Festival Island campaign, including the Isle of Wight Walking Festival (May), the Isle of Wight Festival (June), UK Pride (July), the Ventnor Fringe (August) and the Isle of Wight Literary Festival (October). So 2018 could be the year for you to make repeat visits to the Isle of Wight?
