Lymington Seafood Festival 2020, New Forest
August 29 - August 31
One of the foody highlights of the South Coast, the Lymington Seafood Festival occurs each August, and this year it is going ahead in line with the government’s relaxation of lockdown measures.
The Lymington Seafood Festival must be one of the most picturesque food festivals around with breathtaking views of the Solent estuary from its Bath Road Park location.
Proceeds from Lymington Seafood Festival 2020 will go to Lymington SailAbility who are helping make sailing accesible for all.
What to expect at the Lymington Seafood Festival 2020
Some 70 stands will sell a vast range of seafood delights, but don’t worry if seafood is not for you, as stalls will offer vegetarian and sweet options.
Bands from across the South will perform a eclectic mix of tunes from ska to soul and a little bit of blues.
This year will see a pop-up retaurant with local chef Ian Gibbs, a Rioja Chef of the Year and Dorset and Hampshire Chef of the Year. His local menu features freshly caught Solent seafood and produce from the New Forest.
With pimms, craft beer and gin from local gin producer Pothecary Gin, this promises to be a great occasion.
When is the Lymington Festival 2020?
The festival will be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, from 29 to 31 August.
Traditionally the festival is held over two days, but in line with social distancing protocols, this year’s festival will be ticketed and spread over three days to ensure the safety of all participants.
Sessions will be from 11:30am to 3.30pm, and 4pm to 8pm on the Saturday and Sunday, and 11:30am to 5pm on 31 August.
A Festival Like No Other
Richard Nowell from Lighthouse Marketing, the event’s organisers, said, “We will be investing in a wide range of health and safety measures that we see in pubs or at other attractions. However, the weekend will still have a ‘festival’ feel with great live music and almost every type of seafood imaginable.
“The Lymington Seafood Festival, which usually sees around 15,000 flock to Bath Road Park will look quite different, with lots of additional seating and more smaller bars to allow for families or those in ‘social bubbles’ to enjoy the day safely. This event is very much for locals or day trippers from surround towns and will be promoted in this way.”
