Mysuru Dasara

Mysuru Dasara

Mysuru Dasara fills Karnataka’s historic palace city with celebrations from 11–21 October 2026.

The festival honours the goddess Chamundeshwari and the victory of good over evil. Its royal connections remain visible in the setting: Mysuru Palace, Chamundi Hill and the city’s streets all form part of the wider celebration. Palace illuminations give evening visits a different character from daytime sightseeing. Music and dance performances accompany religious ceremonies, while the Jamboo Savari procession is among the festival’s best-known traditions.

The programme also extends to exhibitions and other public activities, making it possible to build a visit around several interests rather than a single spectacle. Allow time to move between venues and choose the particular events you want to attend. Some experiences require tickets, so check current admission arrangements and the official programme before finalising your plans. The festival dates cover the citywide celebration; individual venues keep their own hours.
