The National Portrait Gallery will present the important exhibition Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm  (28 June – 1 October 2023).

Paul McCartney Photographs

This first-ever exhibition will reveal a remarkable collection of recently discovered and previously unpublished photos made by Paul McCartney. This show, which is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, focuses on the photos taken by Paul McCartney in the period when the Beatles were transformed from the most well-known band in Britain to a global cultural phenomenon.

This exhibition, which is based on McCartney’s own archive, offers a deeply personal and previously unseen view of what it was like to be a Beatle at the outset of Beatlemania, from gigs in Liverpool and London to appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show before an unmatched television audience of 73 million viewers.

These images, taken at a period when the band was the subject of several cameras, will offer new perspective on their experiences, those of their followers, and the early 1960s as seen through Paul McCartney’s eyes.

Showing at the same time is : Yevonde: Life and Colour.
