Where Is Snowmass Balloon Festival 2025?
The festival takes place at Snowmass Town Park, Snowmass, Colorado. Just nine miles from Aspen, Snowmass Village is known for its expansive ski resort, year-round outdoor adventures, and amazing mountain scenery. Its open meadow setting provides the perfect launch field, with panoramic views of the Elk Mountains making every balloon ascent a photographer’s dream.
What to Expect
The festival weekend runs from 12–14 September 2025, beginning with the Night Glow on Friday evening (6pm to 9pm), followed by spectacular sunrise launches on Saturday and Sunday mornings (7am to 9am). More than 30 balloons will take to the skies, their patchwork colours drifting gracefully over the valley as the sun strikes the peaks.
To mark the milestone year, visitors will enjoy an elevated experience on the launch field. Expect artisan demonstrations such as glass blowing, a kids’ zone complete with balloon-themed colouring books, and exclusive 50th anniversary merchandise including posters, stickers and trading cards. Food and drink are a highlight too. The New Belgium Ranger Station will be serving up hearty fare and non-alcoholic drinks, while Base Camp Bar & Grill will keep early risers fuelled with coffee and pastries. After the balloons have soared, it’s worth wandering through Snowmass Mall or Base Village for brunch with a mountain view.
Do dress for the elements: September mornings at this altitude can be bracing, so layers, closed-toe shoes, and even blankets are recommended. Seating is not provided at the launch field, but spectators are welcome to bring chairs or picnic rugs. Dogs, however, are not permitted.
How to Get To Snowmass Village?
For those travelling from Aspen or surrounding towns, the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) provides free public buses directly to Town Park Station, with convenient parking available at the Brush Creek Intercept Lot. Within the village itself, the Snowmass Village Shuttle offers complimentary transport between accommodation, Base Village, and the festival site.
If you are driving, limited free parking can be found at Town Park Station, the Rodeo Lot, and the Brush Creek Park & Ride, all served by frequent shuttle services.
