Fairmont to Open First Hotel in Ireland

Carton House, a Fairmont managed hotel, will be Fairmont’s first hotel in Ireland, set within one of the country’s most architecturally important and historic houses and located just half an hour from Dublin in Maynooth, County Kildare.

The magnificent 1,100 acre Carton estate dates back to 1176 and the regency architecture of Carton House to 1739, making it the oldest Fairmont property within a global collection famed for its grand dame hotels.

The centrepiece of the estate, The House, has had a thoughtful restoration and luxury redesign and features 18 individually designed suites and staterooms, each named after a character associated with the history of Carton House. Originally the home of the influential FitzGerald family, other previous illustrious guests include Queen Victoria, Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier.

In total, the hotel features 169 bedrooms and suites and each room has been beautifully designed to reflect the elegant architecture and grandeur of this unrivalled location.

The hotel will be a leading luxury golf and spa resort in Ireland, a complementary addition to Fairmont’s Golf resort portfolio, particularly Fairmont St Andrews. The resort will offer two world-class eighteen-hole championship golf courses, designed by legendary Colin Montgomerie and Mark O’Meara.

The country hotel also offers an array of dining experiences to suit any taste along with an impressive spa. Sitting within a stunning 1,100 acres, with rolling woodlands, meandering rivers, wild wooded areas and a rich diversity of native animals and birds, Carton House is the epitome of luxury escapism.
