Foodies Flock to Mexico’s Pacific Coast

Forget tasteless tacos and boring burritos – it’s not just chillies that are making Mexican food hot right now. The country’s cuisine is so rich and tasty that it’s been given UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status. And with Restaurant Week set to sizzle in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit this May, there’s no better time for foodies to visit Mexico’s Pacific Coast. If you love good eating, don’t miss this slice of paradise.

Restaurant Week: So Much Food, So Little Time

Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit are havens for foodies, and every year, hungry travellers from around the world look forward to May.

From 15 May – 10 June, Vallarta Lifestyles hosts its annual Restaurant Week. During these two weeks, participating restaurants offer creative three-course menus at a reduced price, with three options available for each course. Menus showcase everything from the mellow flavours of Oaxaca to the Mediterranean-style fare from Veracruz.

Restaurant Week takes full advantage of the region’s local ingredients, traditional Mexican recipes and talented chefs. You could head to the Malecón for fresh fish marinated in lime, roasted over coals and served with traditional huichol salsa. Or, you might want to drop by the beach for some birria – a slow-cooked, spicy stew made with goat meat or mutton, served with corn tortillas, onion and lime. Either way, there will be so much fantastic food that you’ll be spoiled for choice.

It should come as no surprise that such a delicious event draws huge crowds year after year, especially when both Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit’s top restaurants participate! Since the first Restaurant Week launched in 2005, the region’s culinary scene has evolved into one of the best in the world.

How Does Restaurant Week Work?

Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit’s festival of fine foods was inspired by cities such as London and NYC, both of which host their own restaurant weeks.

Following the trend of gastronomic destinations across the globe, Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group established Restaurant Week in 2005. Today, it features Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit’s most coveted eateries as they put on special events and offers for residents and visitors alike.

Better yet, participating restaurants will offer menus at set prices so you could save up to 50% on regular restaurant prices. This makes dining out not only more fun but also much more affordable.

As a finishing touch, restaurants will have plenty of outdoor seating for you to enjoy the colourful sights and sounds of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit long past dusk.

Savour as many dishes as you possibly can!

May is the perfect time to experience Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, and Restaurant Week enhances the whole experience.

So, why not plan a trip to Mexico’s Pacific Coast to explore the foodie scene or try the restaurants that excite you most? Just remember to bring your appetite: Restaurant Week in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit is an event you can really sink your teeth into.
