The start of April saw Exeter and Cardiff celebrate new flights to Malta with Ryanair. The twice-weekly flights are expected to attract up to 85,000 customers a year to each of these departure airports and Ryanair has announced that its services to Malta will continue through the spring and summer seasons and into winter.
This raises Ryanair’s total number of regional connections from the UK to Malta to 17. Ryanair is Malta’s most connected airline for British tourists with the UK market accounting for nearly a quarter of all holidaymakers to the three islands, Malta, Gozo and Comino.
Themed Maps of Malta
The last two years have seen the Malta Tourism Authority release a host of themed maps that lead travellers across the island in pursuit of gastronomy, diving, adventure and films.
The latest addition to the Malta Tourism Authority’s series of maps include the Main Attraction Trail which has been created to highlight the Mediterranean island’s amazing sightseeing experiences. From the natural wonders the Blue Grotto, the ancient mysteries of the Ggantija Temples and the architectural marvels of St John’s Co-Cathedral, the idyllic island is abundant in both urban attractions and a magnificent landscape characterised by rugged coastlines, lagoons, and picturesque bays.
The Malta Tourism Authority has also released the Pilgrimage Trail: a map that showcases the most beautiful churches and religious spots across the archipelago. With more than 360 churches and chapels scattered across Malta and Gozo, the religious sites highlighted in the map form an integral part of the country’s history, landscape and skyline – they are at the heart of Maltese social and cultural life. The tourism authority is soon to launch a booklet that will feature all maps in the series.
