Rwanda is amongst the latest destinations to receive the world’s first-ever global safety and hygiene stamp launched recently by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
The safety stamp is a form of accreditation for the country which recognises the efficiency of the global standardised health and hygiene protocols Rwanda has adopted, protocols that are specifically based on guidelines laid out by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Rwandan government was quick to respond to the pandemic outbreak and took rapid action vowing to identify every coronavirus case and implementing some of the most stringent lockdown measures compared to other African countries. Contact tracers were quickly mobilised and regional command posts set up to track cases.
As Rwanda’s tourism industry adapts to create a safe environment for travellers and operators, its number one priority remains the health and wellbeing of its citizens and visitors.
Following Rwanda’s reopening to international tourism on 1 August 2020, the country is proud to receive this safety and hygiene stamp from the WTTC to demonstrate that Rwanda meets global standards for safety which are essential for re-establishing traveller confidence.
