Switzerland opened its border to Schengen countries and the UK on 15 June. Following the UK government’s announcement, as of 10 July, guests from England can travel to Switzerland without having to quarantine upon return.
On 20 July, Switzerland will open borders for further countries, including Ireland (mostly following the recommendations of the EU council, but excluding Serbia): Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay and the EU states outside the Schengen area (Bulgaria, Ireland, Croatia, Romania and Cyprus) from the list of high-risk countries.
With effect from Monday, 6 July, travellers entering Switzerland from certain regions will have to go into quarantine for ten days. The Swiss federal office of public health has a list of the countries concerned, which it updates continuously. Neither the UK nor Ireland are currently on the list, which means that guest arriving from the UK or Ireland do not have to quarantine in Switzerland.
Open House
Hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, museums, cinemas, zoos, botanical gardens, pools and wellness places are open – in strict compliance with safety protocols. The same counts for public and touristic transportation, which are back to running more or less normally.
Mask and social distancing.
Masks are compulsory on all public and touristic transportation from 6 July. In some cantons, masks have to be worn in shops as well.
The public must adhere to the rules on hygiene and social distancing in Switzerland. The current social distance rule in Switzerland is 1.5 metres.

Clean and safe.
The Swiss tourism industry launched a ‘Clean & Safe’ campaign. The campaign, consisting of an information platform and a label, was initiated by Switzerland Tourism as part of its ‘Recovery Plan’. The ‘Clean & Safe’ label signifies to guests that tourism service providers have made a conscious commitment to comply with protection guidelines. The information platform provides deeper insights into concrete measures taken. The aim is to strengthen guests’ confidence in Switzerland as a safe and clean travel destination.
