Food Festival Malton Food Lovers Festival

The glorious month of May will see the latest edition of the Malton Food Lovers Festival. On May 26 and 27, foodies from across the country will descend upon the beautiful Yorkshire town of Malton for the renowned food festival.

This year four Yorkshire Michelin starred chefs will headline the annual event and participate in a series of talks and cookery demonstrations.

Award winning chef Tommy Banks, owner of the acclaimed Black Swan in Oldstead, who has scooped The Great British Menu prizes for the past two years will be joined by Andrew Pern, owner of The Star Inn at Harome, and James Mackenzie, chef at the Pipe and Glass Inn. Masterchef star, Michael O’Hare, of Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds, will complete the illustrious quartet.

Malton Food Lovers Festival

Antonio Carluccio dubbed Malton as Yorkshire’s Food Capital, and the town’s culinary reputation has soared in recent years, being listed on the Sunday Times’ Best Places for Food Lovers.

The food festival started in 2008 to highlight the independent, artisan food and drink makers in the picturesque town. Now in its tenth year, it’s staged in the heart of the town next to St Michael’s Church. There is also a new indoor market in the Milton Rooms, next to which will be a street food and picnic area. In addition, Taverner’s Yard will offer a fine array of the county’s best ales.

Tens of thousands of foodies are anticipated to attend the festival and if you can’t wait for May 26, the Festival Bar will open the evening before, with beer from local brewery, Brass Castle, cider from Orchards of Husthwaite and gin from Sloe Motion. Entry is free throughout.

The town also has monthly food markets on the second Saturday of the month, held from February to December, as well as a Harvest Food Festival in the Autumn and twice-monthly street food Sundays throughout the Summer.
