Cross Country Skiing in the Dolomites – Summit & Blue

As the Winter Olympics kick off in South Korea on 9th February get a taste of cross country skiing closer to home in the towering backdrop of The Dolomites. The area has a rich heritage of cross country skiing having hosted the winter Olympics at Cortina d’Ampezzo back in the 1950’s and there are now over 700 miles of cross-country tracks and trails with a brand new cross-country skiing centre having opened in Dobbiaco/Toblach in 2010, hosting international races every year since.

If you’d like to try out alpine skiing, read first-time skier Mark Bibby Jackson’s experience in Japan.

But you don’t have to be an international cross-country ski champion to make the most of the region’s perfectly groomed trails.  Immersive adventure operator Summit & Blue knows all the best routes on a new week-long cross-country skiing package, covering some of the 200 plus tracks through the glorious landscape of the Dolomites with its pinnacles and impressive walls of rock.

Costing from £1,300 pp it includes flights from Gatwick to Innsbruck, seven nights’ accommodation on a BB basis (two sharing) plus car hire and a two-hour introduction to cross-country skiing.
