Drive the Fjords in an Electric Porsche

Travel through Norwegian fjords in a newly launched electric super car adventure enjoying empty open roads and breath-taking Scandinavian scenery.

From unspoiled mountain passes to sea-spanning bridges and labyrinthine tunnels, the roads weaving between the Norwegian fjords provide the perfect playground for driving enthusiasts.

The seven-day Drive the fjords super car adventure, available from May to September, has been created by specialist travel company Off the Map Travel to showcase Norway’s ‘National Tourist Routes’ award-winning roads, from the comfort of a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.

Delivering a racetrack experience along the edge of the fjords, this emission-free electric super car comes fully equipped with pre-programmed routes that journey through some of the very best of Norway’s stunning scenery.

With plenty of room to pack everything needed for the seven-day trip, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is the perfect way to access the winding routes through the mountains and deep forests that have inspired Norwegian folklore. Slip it into cruise control and take a moment to absorb the ever-changing scenery outside.

After a night in the art nouveau town of Alesund, where a boat ride out into the fjords provides a taste of what is to come, the adventure continues with a drive out to a tradition Sami tent deep in the pine forests to learn more about the focus of the trip – the electric super car journey.

“We wanted to create a new experience for people to travel through the stunning Norwegian fjords in style and comfort without impacting the environment,” Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, said.

“This new experience takes it to a whole new level, with quiet open roads enabling guests to test out the power behind this electric supercar on the ultimate road trip.”

The deluxe accommodation throughout provides the perfect base to relax and take stock of the sensational sights of the day.

From the eco toiletries to all produce being locally sourced and only using electric or hybrid cars to get around, each hotel is passionate about sustainability with onsite chargers available to refuel the car each night ready for the next day’s adventure.

Over the course of the seven-day road trip, guests will journey along the spectacular Atlantic Road, also known as “the road across the sea” due to its imposing seven bridges; travel deep into the magnificent mountains to the Troll Wall; take a ferry into the gaping Geiranger fjord; journey up a gondola to get the best views of the North Atlantic and experience the fjords from the sky in a private helicopter.

The menu each day features some of the region’s best local cuisine, including the freshest seafood from right on the doorstep.

The cutting edge electric super car has 283 miles of charge and a built-in “charging planner” that calculates the optimum route based on your charge status so you can drive with confidence as you weave in and out of the fjords.

“Including an electric super car in this adventure is a real game changer for us,” Cooper added: “It provides a luxurious, yet eco-friendly way to discover what is widely known as the world’s most beautiful drive.”
