Kayak Down the Hin Boun River in Laos

Asia specialist Bamboo Travel has created the opportunity for those visiting Laos to discover the Hin Boun River – by kayak.

Commencing with an important safety briefing, cast off along the scenic river, surrounded by the Karst Mountains, for a four to five-hour paddle to a pre-determined landing spot, stopping en-route for a rest and a picnic lunch.

On arrival at the landing spot guests are met and transferred back to the hotel, arriving by mid-afternoon.

The kayaking adventure can be enjoyed on several of Bamboo Travel’s recommended itineraries to Laos including the new, 15-day, Legends of Laos.

The journey commences with two nights in Luang Prabang, before taking a road trip to Muang La – with a night spent in the renowned Muang La Lodge – and a trek to discover some hilltribe villages.

Next, embark on a four-day loop, travelling by private boat along the waterways of northern Laos, staying in charming boutique accommodation – located in some of the most scenic parts of the country.

The next leg is an overland journey through the heart of Laos to the mysterious Plain of Jars, an archaeological site dating back over 2000 years.

Continue south to the little-visited Khammouane Province, to see the legendary Kong Lor Cave on a riverboat trip,  a spectacular 7km long cavern with the Hin Boun River running through its length.  The river is surrounded by mountains and the birdwatching paradise of Na Hin Forest.

Whilst in the area, there is the option of the new, half-day, kayaking experience with a picnic lunch (at a supplement).

The trip finishes with two days relaxing and exploring the tranquil capital city of Vientiane.

The holiday can start on any day and costs from £3175 per person (two sharing a room).  This includes 13 nights’ B&B (plus four lunches and two dinners), all transportation, activities/sightseeing as per the itinerary (including entrance fees) and guides.
