Learn to Kitesurf on Portugal’s West Coast

Portugal’s legendary west coast winds and waters are the perfect place to learn to kite surf. At the new Hotel FeelViana, located close to Viana do Castelo, the ‘Jewel of the Costa Verde’, Summit & Blue offers a week-long stay with six hours kite surfing tuition as well as instruction on range of sports for all ages and abilities.

Designed and built by a former professional windsurfer, the hotel’s location was carefully selected so that if the wind is a little strong on the coast, guests can simply move onto the quieter waters on the Rio Lima estuary, behind the hotel.

Away from the beach other activities include Yoga for families and between June and September there’s even Yoga on stand up paddle boards under the watchful eye of an instructor. Or hire a bike and go running on the 400km of trails.  The region is also famous for its Vinho Verde wine, so a stop at a local vineyard is a must after all that activity, as is a visit to Viana do Castelo with its 19th century boulevards and narrow lanes crowded with Manueline manors and rococo palaces.

Summit & Blue (01243 929 121) offers seven nights at Hotel FeelViana from £1,435 per person including flights from Gatwick with easyJet, private transfer, sevcn nights in a standard double or twin on a bed and breakfast basic and six hours of semi-private (max two persons) kite surfing tuition.
