Visit the Home of Frida Kahlo in Mexico

The V&A’s landmark Frida Kahlo exhibition Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up opens in June, presenting an extraordinary collection of previously unseen personal artefacts and clothing. The perfect time then to visit her lifelong home in Mexico City and see the inspiration for her colourful and vibrant lifestyle on Andante Travels Mexico The Maya 16-day tour.

Under the guidance of archaeologist, writer and broadcaster David Drew, spend an afternoon in the iconic Blue House where Kahlo grew up, lived with her husband Diego Rivera and died in 1954.   Explore the dazzling interiors, which are now a museum, filled with mementos, personal belongings and original artwork from both Kahlo and Rivera; and see their everyday objects such as kitchen implements, jewellery and outfits, to gain a deeper and personal understanding of this talented and influential painter.

In addition to visiting Mexico City, which has been dubbed the World Design Capital for 2018, other highlights include special access to the colourful mural and carved stelae at Bonampak, a river boat ride to the jungle site of Yaxchilán and one of the Seven Wonders of the New World, Chichén Itzá, the most famous of all Maya sites.

Andante Travels Mexico – The Maya starts from £4,450/person including flights, hotels, expert guide lecturer David Drew, tour manager, local travel, all meals included with wine at dinner, entry to all sites in programme and tips. Departure 12 November 2018.
