Bite-size Amsterdam is one of the most easily accessible capital cities in Europe. Whether it’s seeing the tulips in bloom, taking a trip along the canals or appreciating its vibrant nightlife, there are few more rewarding cities to visit than the Dutch capital.
With a burgeoning reputation for stag and hen nights drawn by the lure of the city’s liberal coffee houses and red light district, there might be a tendency to shun the capital of the Netherlands, especially for the over 40 traveller, but this would be a mistake.
Delve beneath the surface and you will discover a beauty city spreading out from the canals, full of culture, great food and bars ideal for a city break. Spring is the best time to visit where the tulips are out, but there will is no bad time to visit this wonderful city, even in winter there is the annual Lights Festival to keep you warm.
Low-cost carriers Vueling Airlines and Easy Jet fly from London Luton to the Dutch capital, as does Iberia. KLM flies from Heathrow and British Airways flies from both Heathrow and Gatwick. With so many good options you are literally spoilt for choice.
