Artistic Exchange at Blue Apple Beach, Colombia

Calling all artists, yogis, musicians, writers, photographers, healers – travellers of talent – to Colombia. 2019 is the year of the artistic exchange at Blue Apple Beach, bringing an alternative currency to the southern shores of Tierra Bomba island.

Guests can escape to a Caribbean paradise, staying for free, in exchange for leaving something of them with the hotel.

Since it first opened in summer 2016 as an exclusive beach club and hotel, Blue Apple Beach has set a new tone in Cartegena offering great company, great food, and great music with a laid-back, island vibe. 2019 will be no different, but now Blue Apple Beach is looking to be inspired by the very people who come to stay.

Passionate foodie? Make like Samantha and Adam of the Zen Butcher Company who spent a week at Blue Apple teaching chefs how to create mouth-watering meat alternatives from plants. A dab hand with a paintbrush? Be inspired by the myth-inspired murals left here by local artist Andres Molina and leave your mark. Feeling musical? Follow in the footsteps of musician Joyce Jonathan, who arrived at Blue Apple Beach to sing for her supper.

The idea has been inspired by Founder Portia Hart’s time spent living in the south of France. She fell in love with La Colombe d’Or in the 1920s, where – in simpler times – artists working on the French Riviera were enticed by the raison d’etre of bon vivance and an owner with a deep interest in the arts. The walls were soon covered by paintings often exchanged for a stay or a few meals – by painters such as Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso.

Through its artistic exchange programme – gently tested over the past months, so far to great effect – Blue Apple Beach will offer complimentary bed and board from just one night to up to three months; with hotel and artist agreeing a level of skill share appropriate to the stay. Blue Apple hopes to discover talent that provides food for the soul, add new beats to the drum and enriches the guest experience – all the while redefining the concept of value.

Just 30 minutes from Cartagena, Colombia, Blue Apple Beach inspired by a combination of local Colombian vibrancy and the old-world chic of clubs such as Anjuna (Eze, France), Club 55 (St Tropez) and Beso Beach (Ibiza), life at Blue Apple is about escaping to enjoy lazy days and nights in a Caribbean island paradise. The focus is on great food, washed down with plenty of provençal rosé and delicious cocktails, all set to a tropically inspired soundtrack.

Leave something of yourself at Blue Apple Beach… and stay for free. What are you waiting for?

Rooms at Blue Apple Beach House start from £120 per night based on two sharing. This includes return transport by boat to the island, breakfast and VIP access at the beach club. Full board pricing starts from £215 per night (based on two sharing).
