Pottery Holidays in West Cornwall

Ceramic artist and former Tate Gallery curator Caroline Winn has released 2018 dates for the residential pottery courses at her beautiful house and studio in the far west of Cornwall.

The courses suit all levels, from beginners to experienced potters, and are restricted to a maximum of six people, allowing plenty of time for individual tuition and guidance. Costs – including accommodation, meals, drinks and course materials – start at £890 per person for six nights.

Caroline – whose own ceramic sculptures have been widely exhibited and feature in collections across the UK and abroad – has a creative and inspiring approach to getting the most from each student, regardless of their ability. Guests will learn hand-building, sculpting, wheel throwing and decoration, using top quality materials including porcelain. Finished work will be fired for them at the end of the course.

Her 200-year-old traditional Cornish house is set in a lovely secluded three-acre garden, surrounded by moorland and within walking distance of the stunning coastal footpaths of the Penwith peninsula. Top quality home cooking is provided by husband Martin, using the best locally sourced ingredients including organic meat and vegetables from local butchers and seafood from the nearby fishing port of Newlyn.
