The House, Barbados Unveils New Spa Concept

Boutique, adult-only property The House by Elegant Hotels in Barbados is proud to unveil a new spa concept in partnership with UK-based Elemental Herbology, the 100% natural skincare and body care brand. Based on traditional Chinese medicine, Elemental Herbology follows a Five Element theory, which matches individuals to an element – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – to give balance to body, mind and skin.

Situated along the platinum west coast of Barbados, The House by Elegant Hotels, a chic adult-only property, updated its renowned ‘home away from home’ vibe with the creation of a new spa and hotel renovation. Welcoming guests this month, The House’s collaboration with Elemental Herbology will place it at the forefront of Barbados’ spa scene.

Based on traditional Chinese medicine, Elemental Herbology follows a Five Element theory, which matches individuals to an element – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – to give balance to body, mind and skin.

To achieve perfect equilibrium, guests at The Spa will be given a consultation on arrival to assess their needs and match them to an element. They will also be offered a jetlag revival massage to help them relax muscles and feel chilled-out to start their Bajan holiday.

The newly built Spa will feature two expertly designed private treatment rooms, including a couples space, offering massages, facials plus manicure and pedicure treatments. Located nearby, the new gym will host a range of classes including outdoor yoga and Pilates in a new yoga pavilion overlooking the calming Caribbean Sea.

Signature Treatments

An exclusive and bespoke treatment, the Fire and Water Jetlag Massage, has been designed specifically for The House. Guests will experience muscle release stretches and a rebalancing massage with energising or relaxing oils to recharge the body. The fire element symbolises outward movement, warmth and maximum energy whilst water is an element of strength, creating a perfect synergy to revitalise guests.

A Sun Salutation treatment will take a guest through an invigorating exfoliation using a lush combination of papaya, macadamia, sugar and sea salt. Guests will then be enveloped in a cooling cucumber and aloe vera wrap before being given an acupressure massage to release tension and stimulate relaxation. After the wrap is removed, The Spa’s bespoke elemental oil will be applied to nourish and smooth the skin.

For male guests, The Spa will launch a range of gentlemen specific treatments including the Gentlemen’s Facial, which incorporates a deep cleanse and facial polish with a replenishing mask to help minimise environmental damage and the effects of shaving.

Elemental Herbology products use 100% natural ingredients to complement the body. Skilled therapists will assess guests’ skin type, temperament and flavour preferences to give balance, oil control, radiance and vitality and moisture replenishment.

The House by Elegant Hotels also underwent a transformation with the refurbishment of all communal spaces including the lobby, lounge, dining area and swimming pool, to revitalise its current ocean-inspired design. The intimate 34-room property exterior is reminiscent of a fabled castle with terraced brick walls and arched wooden doorways illuminated by the soft glow of tiki torches.

Rooms at The House start from £420 per night.
