The Whitsun half-term week is the perfect time to get away for a family break – with average temperatures in the mid-80s.  Here are just a few ideas of properties available to whet the appetite.

The Mahogany Tree at Coral Cove is a luxurious, modern beachfront apartment located on Paynes Bay beach, one of the most popular in Barbados, which offers a variety of water sports, from jet-skis to glass bottom boats. The two-bedroomed property has direct views to the ocean and the living area leads onto its own private and spacious garden terrace with a casual dining area and private plunge pool.  A week’s stay during the Whitsun week costs £2310 or around £578 when four people share.

Bora Bora on Paynes Beach is comprised of two, two-bedroomed apartments (each sleeping four people), one on the ground level and one above it accessed via an external stairway.  The apartments can be rented individually or together for a large family or group.  Guests can enjoy easy access to a variety of watersports, from jet skis to glass bottom boats.  There are restaurants within walking distance, and the nearest shopping centre is found in Holetown, a short five-minute drive away. A week’s stay at Whitsun, costs from £1890 (around £473 pp when four people share).

Beach View is a two-bedroomed property sleeping up to four people, located at Paynes Bay, within walking distance of local bars and restaurants.  The complex is on three acres of land with manicured gardens and a large, communal swimming pool. The master bedroom offers a king-sized bed, and a terrace with views of the Caribbean.  Dining can be indoors at the formal dining table or out on the covered terrace whilst looking out to the horizon.  A week’s stay in late May costs £2520 (£630 pp when four share).

Calliaqua, located on the Sugar Hill Resort, is one of the most sought-after luxury villas on Barbados.  With direct views of the Caribbean, the imposing mansion sleeps 10 people in five bedrooms (four in the main house plus another in a cottage in the grounds).  The expansive lagoon pool features a waterfall sheltered by hibiscus and brightly coloured bougainvillea, and sunset cocktails are enhanced by the fragrances from the garden and the lights dotted around.  The house comes with a full contingent of staff and a week’s stay over Whitsun costs £1239 pp based on 10 sharing or £1268 pp when eight people share.
